British Actress Michelle Ryan, best known for her role as Zoe Slater in the British soap, Eastenders, has landed the role of her career as Jamie Sommers - aka 'The Bionic Woman'. After considering Hollywood actresses, Ryan was chosen for the pilot show because she will be unknown to many U.S. viewers. The original 1970's show, starring Lindsay Wagner, was a very popular spin-off of the 'Six Million Dollar Man' series, starring Lee Majors. After an horrific accident, Jamie Sommers is rebuilt using "bionic" technology, giving her superhuman speed, strength and hearing. The show is being produced for the U.S. NBC network and is currently being filmed in Canada.
