  • Captain America has always been America's most patriotic superhero.
  • He was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby during World War II and initially fought against the Nazi and Japanese forces.
  • His shield weighs 12 pounds and is 30 inches in diameter.
  • He had a sidekick called Bucky.
  • The shield is made from an alloy of Adimantium and Vibranium.
  • With the ending of World War II, Capt America's reason to exist dissappeared as did his popularity and so the comic book was dropped.
  • His secret real identity is Steve Rogers.
  • He has no super-powers but due to an injection of super-soldier serum and a blast of vita-rays, he is as strong, agile and near perfect as a human could be.
  • Due to an explosion throwing him into icy waters, Captain America was held in suspended animation for decades until discovered by the newly-formed Avengers, whom he joined.
  • His costume is flame proof and beneath it he wears a lightweight chainmail.
  • The shield is used for defence and attack, it is both bullet proof and aerodynamic.
