Flash was created by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert.
He made his first appearance in his own publication - "Flash"#1 in 1940.
There have been three people assume the power and identity of Flash - Jay Garrick (1940-present),
Barry Allen (1956-86), and Wally West (1986-2006).
Jay Garrick received his super-power ( Super speed) by inhaling "Hard Water" vapours while sleeping in his college
laboratory.
Barry Allen had powers which the other two did not. He could vibrate his molecules to allow him
to pass through solid matter and had the ability to travel through time and dimensions.
Wally has been known to travel faster than light, which makes him faster than Superman.
