Tales of suspence #39
  • Iron Man's first appearance was in "Tales of suspence" #39 in March 1963. He was invented as part of a colaboration between Jack Kirby, Heck and Stan Lee.
  • Irons Man's alter ego Tony stark has a similar life style to that of Bruce Wayne, however Stark's business life played a major part in the Iron Man stories, unlike the Batman comics.
  • After being badly wounded and captured by warlord Wong-Chu, Tony Stark was forced to create an electrically powered metal suit.
  • Into this suit he built a pacemaker, which he needed to keep him alive after his near fatal wounds. Iron man comic
  • Tony stark has the perfect alibi, keeping up the pretence that Iron man is his body gaurd, appearing in public together on some occasions.
  • Iron Man's suit grants him a number of abilities (besides the pacemaker that kept him alive in earlier models).
  • His main offensive weapons are his repulsor rays,which are fired from lenses in the palm of his gauntlets, used with a varied degree of intensity.
  • His travel abilities are provided by his turbine powered flight boots and backpack, giving him a maximum speed of mach 1.2 (960 mph) with a range of 2000 miles.
  • His suit also gives him amazing strength, allowing him to lift (press) up to 85 tons.
  • His built in auto pilot also allows his suit to react in dangerous situations where human reactions aren't quick enough, allowing him to avoid potentially deadly attacks.
  • Jim Rhodes, a friend of Stark's, once stood in as Iron Man when he struggled with alcoholism and the loss of his company. Stark later rebuilt his company and returned to his role as Iron man with Rhodes continuing to aid him as "War Machine".
  • Iron Man has had a lot of help from other Heroes playing a large role in the super hero team "The Avengers"
