The Punisher's real name is Frank Castle.
He is a crime fighting vigilante, a ruthless cold-blooded killer.
The Punisher was created by Gerry Conway, Ross Andru and John Romita Jnr.
He made his debut in 'The Amazing Spider-Man #129' (Feb. 1974).
Frank Castle became The Punisher after witnessing the gangland killing of his wife and daughter.
The first series of The Punisher comic was not printed until 1986, when it began as a five part mini-series.
Frank was a former Purple Heart decorated U.S. Marine Captain and at one time studied to become a priest.
He does not fight crime only in the USA, but worldwide.
For a time, The Punisher's sidekick was computer hacker, Microchip.
He will use any weapon necessary to achieve his aims and these have ranged from animals to H-Bombs.
The Punisher has no super-powers but is the peak of human fitness, has unsurpassed hand to hand fighting skills and
is an exceptional marksman.
