Spider-man first appeared in august 1962 in Amazing Fantasy#15.
He was created by Marvel writer Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Spidey’s super powers came from an irradiated spider that bit him at a science exhibition.
His spider like abilities enable him to stick to walls, perform an array of gymnastic skills
as well as super strength and a precognitive warning to danger known as a “spidey sense”.
He utilizes web slingers which produce projectile webbing that mimics the characteristics
of real spider webbing.
In his every day life he goes by the name Peter Parker and lives with his Aunt. He works as
a Photographer as well as studying science at college, often having to drop everything to don the red
and blue suit and fight crime.
Spider-man for a long time worked alone. However in later comics “The astonishing Spiderman” he is
featured working alongside his clone Ben Reilly a.k.a Scarlet spider who eventually takes Peters place
as Spiderman once he retires.
Peter later returns when Ben Reilly is killed by Norman Osborn, the first Green goblin.
Spider-man has worked with other super heroes such as Black cat, Dare Devil, the Fantastic four,
various members of the X-men and the Avengers.
